Industrial temperature sensor calibration equipment

Temperature Instruments

Industrial thermometers can be selected based on measuring principle and application requirements. Common types include bimetal thermometers, gas-actuated thermometers, thermocouples, RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors), and temperature transmitters. Bimetal thermometers feature a simple and durable design, making them suitable for general industrial use and medium-temperature measurement, while gas-actuated thermometers are ideal for remote indication and temperature monitoring of large equipment. For high-temperature processes such as industrial furnaces and combustion systems, thermocouples are commonly used. RTDs provide excellent accuracy and stability, making them suitable for medium- to low-temperature process control and precision measurement. Temperature transmitters convert temperature signals into standard outputs such as 4–20 mA for remote transmission and system integration.

SJ Gauge specializes in industrial thermometers, temperature gauges, and related measurement instruments. Based on different operating conditions and installation requirements, we offer options such as threaded connections, sanitary clamp fittings, electrical contacts, thermowells, temperature probes, and smart temperature sensing elements. Whether for standard selection needs or specific industrial applications, SJ Gauge provides reliable temperature measurement products tailored to actual operating conditions.

Temperature Instruments FAQ

Selection questions for industrial thermometers, thermocouples, RTDs, temperature transmitters, and thermowells.

How should I choose a temperature instrument?
Choose by temperature range, accuracy, response time, installation location, process connection, media, vibration, and whether local indication or remote signal output is needed. Mechanical thermometers are suitable for local reading, while sensors and transmitters are used for control systems.
What is the difference between thermocouples and RTDs?
Thermocouples are durable, cost-effective, and suitable for wider or higher temperature ranges. RTDs are more accurate and stable, especially in low to medium temperature ranges. The best choice depends on accuracy, range, response time, and environment.
When is a thermowell required?
A thermowell protects the sensor or thermometer from pressure, corrosion, flow, and mechanical damage. It also allows the thermometer or probe to be replaced without shutting down the process.
Can SJ Gauge provide temperature instruments for remote monitoring?
Yes. Options include capillary thermometers, temperature transmitters, thermocouples, RTDs, and integrated transmitter assemblies with outputs such as 4-20mA or HART depending on system needs.
